Close to $6000 was pledged for this year’s CDS Futurity program and the quality of young horses competing proved well worth these purses. After winning the Five-Year-Old division in 2025, Willy Arts (Hanford, CA) took the top honors in this year’s Six-Year-Old division earning an impressive 72.331% on DG Bar’s big Chestnut KWPN stallion, Pharaoh DG, by Koenig DG. In the Five-Year-Old Division, Sandy Savage (Sacramento, CA) rode her own Oldenburg mare, Eye Candy to a 73.533%. The highest combined score in the Futurity went to the Four-Year-Old Champion, Dynamic Design, owned and ridden by Carrie O’Neill (Villa Park, CA). The pair won the division with a combined score of 79.150%. Carrie and the chestnut, Oldenburg gelding also won the Great American/USDF Region 7 Training Level Championship with a 73.400%, earning High Percentage of the day honors.

Music filled the GGT Footing Arena all morning with both Great American/USDF and CDS Musical Freestyles. Another repeat-winner, Christian Hartung (Vacaville, CA) won the CDS overall Lower-Level Freestyle Championship in ’25 on Velantis N and captured the title again in ‘26, winning the CDS Fourth Level Freestyle (70.788%). The pair also took the USDF Region 7 Fourth Level Freestyle title with a 69.300% and the CDS Open Fourth Level Championship (70.486%) Owner/breeder, Cristianne Noelting was beyond pleased with her young stallion and expressed how much “fun” it is to have him participate in the Freestyles. “It is so good for the spectators and the sport, to have quality horses in quality freestyles that are fun to watch.”
The CDS Dressage Seat Equitation Challenges took the afternoon spot. Anna Lynn rode Rebeca Lynn’s 15.3 hand Dutch Warmblood mare, Lausanne WS to the top spot in the 13 & Under. This was her first equitation class and when asked what she liked about it, Anna replied, “It has aspects of dressage but is even more focused on position. I also really liked having other people in the ring. This was my first equitation class, and I definitely want to do more.” In the 14-17 division it was…Ryder Mosqueda who took home the blue ribbon on Sarah Mosqueda’s Dutch Warmblood Gelding, Freedom. Over 15 riders contested the CDS AA Equitation Challenge with Kelly Carroll riding her own Chapeau 25 to take the top spot.
